Started programming with mIRC scripting at age of 11, back then I was fascinated by it and tried to implement small bot for different tasks, from file sharing to games, my greatest accomplishment back then was a pokemon game bot.
After that I went into a bit of a hiatus for 6 years, fiddled a bit with ASP and PHP for doing some small websites. When I finally got in touch with python and rediscovered the joy of programming. A year later I got into college and was introduced to C.
Having always been fascinated by video-games, and always reading that C was the standard language at the gamedev industry I decided to give it a shot. And that when I finally managed to get a tetris-like game done using C (https://github.com/gabrielrios/falkzblocks)
During college I went to internship into a company that was developing web applications, and that's when I was first in touch with ruby and rails. Already knowing python at the time and having a little bit of PHP knowledge it wasn't hard for me to grab it.
Since then I've being working mostly with Ruby/Rails, with a occasional jump into Objective-C/Swift, Go and PHP. Reason for this could be trying to use the best tool for the problem at hand, just maintenance of an old client project or trying new interesting technologies.
I'm still dreaming of working at the gamedev industry but there's a few roads I need to go for this yet.
